Claude DeGrâce

Executive Director
Landscape of Grand Pré Incorporated

Claude DeGrâce was appointed to the position of Executive Director of Landscape of Grand Pré Incorporated in September 2019. No stranger to Grand Pré, Claude is proud of his 35-year career with Parks Canada with whom he held various management positions, including Superintendent of Grand-Pré National Historic Site, Area Superintendent for the Historic Sites in New Brunswick and Manager, External Relations. Over the years, he has contributed to the achievement of major development projects and initiatives such as the:
  • Development of Grand-Pré National Historic Site, including the construction of a new visitor centre in 2003;
  • Commemoration of Saint Croix Island International Historic Site;
  • Development of a major interpretation centre to commemorate Augustine Mound and Oxbow national historic sites at Metepenagiag in New Brunswick;
  • Interpretation of the human history of Kouchibouguac National Park; and
  • Inscription of the Landscape of Grand Pré on UNESCO’s World Heritage List.

While Claude believes that it is important to preserve the values of a site that has become an iconic place of remembrance for the Acadian diaspora, he is building on the spirit of cooperation emerging as a result of diverse communities working together. “By implementing an inclusive approach for protecting, celebrating, and sharing its timeless cultural and living agricultural heritage, the Landscape of Grand Pré UNESCO World Heritage Site will continue to inspire people for generations to come.”
