Claude DeGrâce
Co-Chair, The Landscape of Grand Pré Society
Over a period of 35 years, Claude DeGrâce has held various management positions with Parks Canada, including Superintendent of Grand-Pré National Historic Site, Area Superintendent for Historic Sites in New Brunswick and Manager, External Relations. Co-Chair of Parks Canada’s Acadian Consultative Committee from its foundation in 1985 until he retired in 2010, Mr. DeGrâce has worked on major development projects. He is proud to have contributed to the achievement of the following projects and initiatives:
Since his retirement he joined with a small group of Grand Pré volunteers to raise the funds required to purchase a property in order to create a view park for the Landscape of Grand Pré World Heritage Site.
In February 2013, Mr. DeGrâce was appointed by the Société Nationale de l’Acadie as Co-Chair of the Stewardship Board, responsible for the management of the new World Heritage Site.
Claude lives in Moncton, New Brunswick, runs marathons and is active in community development projects.

- the development of Grand-Pré National Historic Site, including the construction of a new visitor centre;
- the commemoration of Sainte Croix Island International Historic Site;
- the development of a major interpretation centre to commemorate Augustine Mound and Oxbow national historic sites;
- the interpretation of the human history of Kouchibouguac National Park;
- the protection of the former Acadian village of Beaubassin;
- les celebrations marking the 400th anniversary of l’Acadie in 2004;
- la commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the Deportation; and
- the inscription of the Landscape of Grand Pré on UNESCO’s World Heritage List.
